What happens when childhood trauma follows you into adulthood?
In this powerful episode of W.A.R. Network, Shannon Grace shares her journey from surviving childhood abuse and building a successful corporate career to becoming The Graceful Healer. Together, we explore how unresolved trauma can shape identity, relationships, and the nervous system, and why true healing often begins by confronting what we've spent years avoiding.
We discuss Reiki, somatic healing, Pure Bioenergy, emotional suppression, breathwork, end-of-life care, and the growing world of holistic healing. We also tackle the difficult questions surrounding science, skepticism, ethics, evidence, and where alternative healing should complement—not replace—traditional medical and mental health care.

And so it was a survival mechanism that I had no clue I was even doing, but it protected me because growing up, if I ever showed, if I ever spoke up about something or showed any kind of emotion, whether it was a negative emotion or even too happy, I would get severely punished. And so I learned just to never have emotion and just kind of be like a robot. Or if I had emotion, I would go hide and like go cry in my room or something. Or I didn't have a safe space to like be a kid or have emotions. So I grew up like that too, just suppressing all my emotions, thinking like people, but people loved it. They're like, you're so agreeable. You just do whatever I want you to do. And I was just like, I thought that's just what you did because people liked it. And I was never a bother. Like I never wanted to be a bother. And I just learned to eat all my emotions. So in my body, it was just pretty much numb.
SPEAKER_00Okay, recording in progress. Welcome home, guys. Welcome to the Ward Network. We're all recovering. Today's guest is Shannon Grace, founder of The Graceful Healer. Her story isn't one of someone who grew up wanting to become a healer. She built a successful corporate career, created and patented product, experienced national success, lost nearly everything during COVID, and found herself rebuilding from the inside out. Today, I hope I pronounce it, I'm jacking up words all over the place. So forgive me. Today she helps people through Reiki. Reiki? Yep. I got it.
SPEAKER_02Yes, you did.
SPEAKER_00Okay. Okay, it's very good. So we she helps people through Reiki, somatic healing, pure bioenergy, breath work, sound healing, and end of life care. But today isn't a sales pitch, people. Today we're separating experience from evidence, belief from fact, and asking the questions everyone wants answered. Shannon, welcome to war. We're all recovering. It's a pleasure to have you.
SPEAKER_02Thank you so much. I'm so excited to be here and talk to you today. It's such an honor. Thank you.
SPEAKER_00Thank you, ma'am. Thank you. Before you were the graceful healer who was Shannon, not your resume, your title, not your titles. Who were you before the world told you who you should become?
SPEAKER_02Wow, that's a great question. That's very deep. I heard it take away all of the titles and all the things that I do. I was a scared little child in this adult body because your subconscious is wired between birth and seven. And so whoever your main caregivers at that time influence your subconscious mind, that little child is within you as an adult and is driving the ship. And so for me, if I were to take away everything and go back, it'd be this scared little child not knowing that I am taking care of emotionally, scared of my own shadow, scared to speak up and use my throat chakra.
SPEAKER_00Oh wow.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I was, it was really bad. I had really high anxiety, a social anxiety. I love to just hide in my room with my cat because that was my only safe space growing up, was like when I was alone. And if if I was seen or heard, there was danger. So I grew up with that fear within my body and my nervous system, even as an adult. And sometimes you don't know what you're doing or why you're doing it because your subconscious is driving the ship and you, your conscious mind is going, Why do I feel this way when I walk into a crowded room? And no until now, doing all this work and this healing on myself and becoming a healer, you have to heal yourself in order to help others. I mean, there are healers who don't work on their stuff, and they it's easier to help others than help yourself. But for me, it was my journey of healing myself. I was like, oh, this would this is what this is why I went through the stuff I went through. I needed to heal it within myself. And then having this knowledge now, I'm here to help others heal. And so, yeah, without the titles and you strip all that away, it's just like, wow, that's so vulnerable. Who, who was I? I mean, that piece of me is always gonna be there. You're never gonna like take that away.
SPEAKER_00Right.
SPEAKER_02Heal it where it no longer has that emotional charge of like, I walk into a room and there's all eyes on me, I would go into fight or flight or even freeze and just freeze, and my hands would shake and I'd start sweating because my nervous system was still thinking I'm in danger of being seen, because that's the way I grew up. And so now I'm learning to regulate my nervous system. I do meditation practices daily and just constantly working on that inner child, telling her she's safe. Now, I mean, it does pop up every once in a while. Like I'm very much an introvert. And so when I go into big crowds, I'm like, this is gonna be exhausting and I'm gonna need days to recover by myself. Now I understand why, and I understand how to deal with it and work with it instead of the shadow part of you and being shameful. Like, why am I like this? And and I admire people who are like love to get on stage and speak, and they're just like so charismatic. And why am I like this? Instead of wrapping shame around it and wishing you were somebody else, you embrace it. You're like, oh, okay, I understand why. This is part of your personality, it was part of your conditioning growing up, but now this is tools to work with it. And then understanding about myself, if I am in a public setting, I do need a day or two to recharge by myself and go take a walk in nature, go read the trees and just like kind of be by myself. So you the more you learn about yourself, it's like know thyself, the more I hate saying powerful, but the more you will understand the surroundings around you, and then the more people can't affect you because you know yourself so well. You're like, I know I need this and this and this. In that situation, I know I need it, and then you're good. So this journey for me has been long, hard.
SPEAKER_00Yes.
SPEAKER_02But I wouldn't be the person I am today without that stuff. That's how you started through the biggest obstacles in your life. But it's easy, you know, you're just like, you don't really pay attention. You're just like, it feels good. I am having the best time. No, it's the adversity that makes you who you are and stronger. As long as you can recognize the light within what's going on, usually in retrospect, after you're like, oh, that had to happen for me to get to this point. But when you're in the middle of it, you know, you're like, well, this sucks. Why is this happening to me? But as long as you can see and observe later and you're like, oh, I needed that. Totally needed that lesson.
SPEAKER_00So do you do you feel healed or are you like a work in progress, still healing? I know it's a tricky, tricky question, but you know, I have to, you know, because me, I feel like, you know, healing is just gonna is just gonna happen throughout time. I can never say that I'm fully healed because something could just snap and then I'm just, you know, back at that spot.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. And so that's another great question because for me, I feel like I'm never going to be healed. I feel like the journey of being human is to go through obstacles and then finally figure out who you are. And it's peeling back the layers of all the conditioning, all the hurt, the trauma that you've been through. So actually, it's a remembering of who you are and your true essence, your true soul, and why, what's your purpose in being here. And I'm still gonna be learning and growing and working through my traumas till all the day. And, you know, unless you're Buddha sitting on the top of the hill and constantly meditating and going within and you're taking care of by food and clothing and shelter, we're in the thick of it. Like we're gonna be having obstacles every single day. But it's just how do you deal with those situations, those people? So I don't have like the aspirations to be enlightened in this lifetime, like fully enlightened, like Buddha, because we just have too much coming at us. But if I can slowly work on my trauma, chip away at the things that I feel like I need to work on somatically in my body, emotions, like being aware of okay, that person said that. How does that feel in my body? Why am I having this sensation in my heart chakra and it feels tight and I feel like I can't breathe? And when they said that, it's being aware of what's happening in your body. And you're like, oh, okay, so that triggered me. That's actually a mirror of what I need to work on. It has nothing to do with that person. They just illuminated with a mirror, like a trigger for you, and you have to go within and be like, what's inside of me that got triggered? And so every situation, every person is a mirror for what we need to work on. And so I think I we're I'm gonna have a mirror of people and situations till you know, I'm I don't know, my grandma lived to 104, and I'm like, oh no, I'm doomed for a while.
SPEAKER_00That's funny. That's funny. That's hilarious. It's that because I've learned survival creates identities, you know, and uh sometimes we're living as someone we needed to become instead of who we actually are, you know. And and speaking of Buddha, on a side note, my brother and I was talking yesterday, and he told me that Buddha, we were talking about different religions, and he was telling me, you know, he wanted to become Buddhist, and Buddha was the only, you know, thing that, you know, type of religion that resonated with him. And then I brought up the fact that, you know, I always make light of things. So I said, you know, I don't know what they call them, shamans or something, was in India, he was leading his people, and he wanted to show them that he could float in the air. I don't know if you've seen this.
SPEAKER_02No, I haven't.
SPEAKER_00But he stepped off a cliff step, he was gonna step off a cliff and float in the air. And they was all around chanting and everything. He stepped off the cliff, and sad to say, he didn't make it. But oh, is this recent? Yeah, yeah, it's all over social media, all over Instagram. They have, they actually, I don't know if they took it down now, but they actually had the video of him falling down a cliff and everything, and it wasn't AI. And I'm like, faith is one thing, but you know, I just I just can't imagine, you know, all the it was little kids, everything around, and he was supposed to float in the air, and you know, that's when you go too far on the other side.
SPEAKER_02And I was just listening to a podcast this morning, and it's like there's opposite ends of the spectrum, and so one end of the spectrum would be like that where you just you're out of touch with reality, and you're like, you know, it's all about the infinite and your soul and and God and source, and you lose touch with like being human, and we have stuff to do. We actually, if you stab yourself, it's gonna hurt. If you jump off the cliff, you're not gonna float. So that's where people are just they're wanting to exit out of their body and their life, and like they get too immersed in that side, which we need to have a balance. You can't be on this side or this side, you can't be too much in the material world where you're just like, all that matters is my car and my house and how much money I have in my the bank. You need to be in the middle, and so of course we need food, we need shelter, we need all that stuff, we need stability, and you have to have faith and choose the religion that resonates with you, but you can't be on too far where you're just like material doesn't matter, and my body doesn't matter anymore. I'm just this light being you're not, you're you're actually gonna die. And so that's horrible. That makes followers, yeah, yeah. And so, yeah, it's like kind of like a cult setting.
SPEAKER_00It seems right. If he would have floated, if he would have floated, that would have been something different different. Everybody would have said it was AI or you know, yeah, you know, yeah, God rest his soul. And uh yeah, I just wanted that. Was just a little side note. So on the other side side of things, back to the uh you Shannon, where did your story really begin?
SPEAKER_02It began, well, I you know, I I grew up kind of not growing up, I'll start at my career. My career is normal. Like I started my career in tech pretty young, about 1920 years old, and worked my way up pretty fast in a tech company. And I was selling voice over IP phones, which is like now we have cell phones on our hip. But way back when, when this was new technology, everybody had desk phones. And so these uh voice over IP phones were actually a phone you can put on your hip. And that was the first that the technology was huge. So hospitals and like Home Depot and big companies are like, oh my God, I can take my desk phone and put it on my hip. And so it was a big booming industry, and I worked my way up pretty fast. And I was winning presidents' clubs and getting bonuses, and I was just like, wow, getting awards and stuff. I was like, this is pretty fun. And then I got married and had kids. And once I had my second son, I was like, you know, I don't want the nanny to raise my kids, I want to be home. So my husband didn't really agree with that at the time. We're not married anymore, but I was like, no, I want to, I want to stay home. So I quit and to stay home with my kids. And then I couldn't keep still, and so I invented a product. I had three patents and a trademark, and I did that for 13 years, and that was super fun. That was women's undergarments. And so I just learned. I didn't know anything about starting a company. I didn't know anything about clothing or textiles or you know, shipping overseas, blah, blah, blah. But I learned it on my own. I did my own gorilla marketing and got on like Howard Stern and Chelsea Handler.
SPEAKER_01Really?
SPEAKER_02Yes, it was so fun. But that came became part of my identity too. It was like this company was my baby and it was who I was. And so when that closed down during COVID, I'm literally like an identity crisis. I'm like, what am I gonna do now? This is who am I? What am I gonna do? And so I was like, well, I guess I'll just go back to corporate. I don't want to start another company. It was it was a lot of work. And so I tried to get back into corporate and got denied left and right because I had a gap in my resume. And it didn't matter that I started a company and I had all these patents and did all this stuff, and I was wore every hat. Like I did the marketing, the create creative, I did customer service, I was CEO, C O O, la. It didn't matter, like these kids out straight out of college would get the job, and I was overlooked.
SPEAKER_00I'm like, that's crazy.
SPEAKER_02I'm like, I have so much experience, and so that's just like how it was. And so I just tried different jobs. Like I did uh like med spa sales and and then I did legal recruiting, I did medical recruiting, I sold IT, like cybersecurity training. But at that time, I kept getting laid off. And I'm like, wow, this is the new theme. Every time I join a company, it's like they would get acquired, and then they would swipe everybody in the team. And I'm like, okay, I see a pattern here. Now I need to take a step back and look what's what's in my energy field that's attracting these jobs that I keep getting led. Like, this is a really big pattern and theme. And so I was like, okay, okay. So maybe I'll start doing my healing business, which I started to dabble in. I learned transcendental meditation, which that really helped my social anxiety like tenfold. I can't even tell you, it helped me so much with like rewire, it rewires your brain. Meditation does. And so TM has you say a mantra over and over. So your mind focuses on that mantra. And then when you say certain words, it's a certain vibration. And so that helps me. And then I got a tune for Reiki, and Reiki will come when you're ready. And so I got level three, Master Reiki, which is energy healing. It's an ancient Japanese modality where you channel universal love and light, and you're just a conduit. It comes through your crown chakra and down through your hands. And so you just yeah, and it's you can feel it coming out of your hands. And I'm like, oh my god, my hands are amazing.
SPEAKER_00And you and you do this remotely or in person or both.
SPEAKER_02I can do remote Reiki, yeah. Yeah, because energy doesn't have to, it's not linear, it doesn't have to be like right in front of the person, it's just your intention. And so if you are in China and I'm like, we're having a session, I just tune in and tap into your energy field, and it's the same thing as if you're sitting in front of me. And so I create this little avatar in front of me, like you're right in front of me, and I put my hands around parts of your body, and it goes, it's the intention is for you and it goes to you. And so that's how energy works. And then, like, once you open that door for healers, you're like, what else can I learn? And so I was like studying astrology, numerology, pure bioenergy, which is another energy healing modality that's pretty freaking potent. But my new one is somatic energy healing, and that's where I really found the root cause of the stuff I was doing and some being somatically aware to your body, because if something happens to you emotionally charged or trauma and you don't express those emotions at the time, everything's energy and energy has to go somewhere. It gets stuck in your body somatically. And so that's where chronic pain, autoimmune, illness or Parkinson's or whatever, if it's in your energy field and there's dissonance in your field out here, it manifests in your body physically. So that energy goes somewhere and it doesn't go away until you liberate it. So I had no idea. I was so shut down, so disconnected from my body. It was never safe to be in this body. So I would exit constantly and my soul would just exit and float in the infinite field. And so I had no clue I was doing this. It was just survival. I would constantly just check out and zone out constantly. And I didn't know that was my soul leaving my body because it was never safe to be in this body. So with this work, like it was life-changing for me. I'm like, oh my god, I can actually feel stuff now. Before I was like just numb. I don't know, I can't explain it. And now I can actually feel sensations in my body. And I notice like when I'm having an emotion, I'm like, okay, I'm aware I'm having an emotion. Where is it being held in my body? And then bringing that awareness. I just went to a 10-day meditation vipassana retreat. It was in the mountains, 10 days, 10 hours a day, you're meditating for 10 days straight in silence. And there's other people, you're rooming with other people in cabins, and you cannot make eye contact, you can't talk. You go and meditate throughout the day for 10 days, go to sleep, wake up in four with the gong, start meditating at 4 a.m.
SPEAKER_00And this is in the U.S.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, this was in Kelseyville, California, which is outside of Sacramento.
unknownWow.
SPEAKER_02You're all over. It's called the Vapasana.
SPEAKER_00This sounds familiar. I'm sorry to cut you off. This sounds familiar because you're bringing me back to a guru that I interviewed, and he has this big intimacy village. He calls it the intimacy healing village in India. And he told me something fascinating that he can actually bring his body down to almost like you like death. Step out of his body because he he said he went into the the I guess the mountain somewhere and he stayed there for a few months and never came back out. And he found he he learned how to take his himself out of his body and stand and like watch himself from the outside.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. And it's OPE, out of body experience. So you can that state through meditation, right? And lucid dreaming. This is yeah, so Vipassana was taught by Gawinka, who is from India, and so it's really big there. But the teachings are from Buddha, and so there's many Buddhas. Buddhas is the name Buddha is given to you if you reach enlightenment. So there's many Buddhas. So this one Buddha spent his pretty much his whole life meditating. And so he figured out at one point if I focus on the sensations in my body during meditation and I feel something, say you feel physical pain, like in your shoulder. If you bring awareness to that pain, and then you meet it with equanimity, which means a balance of emotion, it's not a good sensation or it's not a bad sensation. It's there's no judgment on it. Then that energy gets liberated. And that was whatever happened in your life. You don't need to attach a story to it. It could have been your mom, you know, left side is mom. And so, and shoulder would be heart chakra area. So maybe it was something with your mom, but you don't need to put a story on it or attach anything. You just feel the sensation, meet it with equanimity. Okay, I notice sensation, and then you move on. That energy gets liberated out of your body, and that no longer has a charge around you. So if you think of, say, a thought which really bothered you and it doesn't have that charge anymore, it doesn't have a hold on you, that probably was that. But you don't need to know. And so this meditation teaches you how to scan your body for sensations, meet it with no judgment, equanimity, and then keep scanning your body. I was like, oh my gosh, it's been life-changing for me again. I'm like, oh my, I'm gonna do this for the rest of my life. Twice a day, they have you do it in the morning for an hour, at the night in the hour, but I'm already seeing the benefits. And so I'm gonna keep doing this practice. When it was, yeah, Buddha, one of the Buddhas came up with this and it's it's a path to enlightenment. And so if I were to go to a cave and just do this for the rest of my life, or it probably wouldn't take the rest of your life, but it would take a long time. I would get, they're called sakaras or samskaras, which are mental impressions, recollections, or psychological imprints that shapes thoughts, actions, and development of karma. And they're deeply ingrained in our behavior and our body. You liberate that energy and then you become enlightened. And so I'm like, okay, I know I'm not gonna become enlightened in this lifetime. It's not my purpose to go be like an ashram or be a Buddhist. I meant to speak about this stuff, but if it can chip away at a lot of it, I'm good because you take those with you to your next life, and that's your karma.
SPEAKER_00So are you are you Buddhist?
SPEAKER_02I'm thinking, well, okay, I'm gonna start going to I'm gonna find a Buddhist temple around me because I live in Malibu. I think there's a lot in LA. I don't think I want to become one religion or one thing. I I love, like, I love the Kabbalah, I love Buddhism, I love different aspects of different religions. I kind of don't want to lock myself in one thing, but I really like the teachings of Buddha and I really love they're just so gentle and pure. And it's just about reality, actually. It's not about like thinking, I don't know, bigger pictures. And believing in some deity. I don't know. It's it's like realistic and it's working with self and reality instead of being on some cloud. So I really believe in the teachings and I mean the benefit.
SPEAKER_00I love how you put that.
SPEAKER_02You've got to add humor into this lifetime, right? Just be so sad all the time if I didn't like make stuff funny. So because it's it's heavy.
SPEAKER_00Right, Shannon. Let me ask you a question. Okay. Because I know a lot of a lot of this have to do with like mind, you know, mind power. And do you think this can work on with people with disabilities, like uh, let me see, autism or you know, Down syndrome?
SPEAKER_02That's a good question. I was thinking in that the other day. That's funny that really yeah. I was like, huh. Because I followed the telepathy tapes and on Instagram, and I watched their clips and and they speak about autism and how they're not like special needs, they are way more advanced than we are.
SPEAKER_00Right, right.
SPEAKER_02Another way of communication through telepathy.
SPEAKER_00Oh my goodness, stop it.
SPEAKER_02Are you serious? Yeah, that's how we think I I said that.
SPEAKER_00I was thinking that I was like, You are yes, I was like, I didn't want to say it out loud, but I was saying to myself, I was like, they communicate through telepathy, or they're way more advanced than us, and you know, our DNA is changing, and you know, we are supposed to understand how to communicate with them instead instead of the other way around, you know, us teaching them how to be verbal and communicate with us, you know?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, and that's what they're saying because they can't speak verbally, so we have to learn how, because their parents tell them, I thought it was crazy at first, but I would hear thoughts that weren't mine or have dreams, and then it would like come to fruition the next day, and they're just like, There's something, and then so as she was interviewing more parents, they're like, I can speak to my child telepathically, and so we have we all have this ability, it's just been dormant because we we were told to not do that because of the church. Like it's bad to communicate with spirit, you have to do it through me, and you have to like go to church and give your tidings every week, and it's like only the priest can do it. No, we all have this ability. So we were taught it was bad, it was simple. We're gonna go to hell, and only a priest is allowed to do it. And so this part of us has laid dormant for so long. But these because think about like all the autistic people now, especially children. There's like so many. It's like really, right? This is because when I was younger, they're just like, what autism?
SPEAKER_00Like, you know, yeah, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_02But they're here to teach us, there's more ways to communicate. And somebody that looks disabled is actually way higher in a vibration and a being here to teach you.
SPEAKER_00Right.
SPEAKER_02So yeah, I mean, I try now since watching telepathy tapes. I communicate with animals doing telepathy. So I walk a lot on trails here, and there's a lot of horse trails. And so when horses pass me, I I talk to the horse, I'm like, hey, I'm to your left, turn your head and look at me. And they will. And I'm like, no. Try it with your dog. Like, try it. And so animals, because I read a book on anime animal communication. So I started doing these practices. I'm like, oh my god, it works. So if your dog has high anxiety about you leaving, say in your mind, or verbally, I'll be back and let them know, but then also show them a picture because they they don't really know words, but they can see pictures. Show you coming back through the front door and and petting the dog. Like, I'll be back soon, and then show them a picture, and then they're like, Okay, I don't have things.
SPEAKER_00That's a good idea. That's kind of like what you do because my son is autistic. Oh, so it's kind of like, oh my god, Shannon, this nine minutes left. What is going on? Wow, I don't have my credit card information. People, this thing is trying to kick us off.
SPEAKER_02This is my first I guess the pre-trial is only so long.
SPEAKER_00Oh my goodness, I don't believe where did you go?
SPEAKER_02Oh, you can't see me anymore. No, I can't see me. Oh, yes, we have nine minutes left and it erased my face.
SPEAKER_00What? Where did you go? Let me see. This is amazing. This was amaz Shannon.
SPEAKER_01Oh no.
SPEAKER_00There you go. There you go. There you go. But I it, you know, I wish I could upgrade while I'm talking to you.
SPEAKER_01I know.
SPEAKER_00You know, like if I try to upgrade, it takes me to another screen and right. Well, let's finish the conversation about your son because Yeah, my son is autistic, and he's uh you know, we show him like PEX cards and kind of like what you said, you know, like you know, and have him pick, choose the card and everything. That's how we're communicating with him or through an AAC device on his uh iPad. Uh-huh. Yeah, so that's how we communicate with him through pictures.
SPEAKER_02So yeah, start doing it through your mind and see what happens.
SPEAKER_00Right, and you know, Elon Musk making this thing that goes in your brain is called Nero. Did you hear of it?
SPEAKER_02I wouldn't do that. I don't know.
SPEAKER_00I don't Did you hear of it though? He he you he's putting it in your brain. People are in trial periods right now. You're supposed to be able to talk to animals, you're supposed to be able to wonderful, yeah, wonderful stuff. People are trying saying that it might, you know, ele you can elevate or like uh float in the air and do all kind of amazing stuff.
SPEAKER_02And oh no, that guy should have like waited to float.
SPEAKER_00Right, right, right.
SPEAKER_02Like, but you know, be careful of that technology because we're I'm not saying floating, but talking through telepathy and animals and stuff. We all have that ability, but if you use a chip for it, like we're gonna really lose the ability as humans to do all of that. It's just it's and then who knows what they're putting in your brain, and I don't know.
SPEAKER_00Right, right. I don't, I don't, I don't trust it. I don't trust I wouldn't, I wouldn't, but he's he's he's autistic as well, yeah. And uh high functioning, but he's brilliant, right? And is brilliant, so you never know.
SPEAKER_02A lot of them are really brilliant, like they'll solve mathematical equations where they can't even talk, and they just thought they were like an invalid sitting in the chair, and they're like these geniuses, they just couldn't verbally talk. And I was like, Right is so fascinating, right? Yeah, and karmically they say, because I like I listened to Dolores Cannon, who does past life regressions, and she was like, People who come in with disabilities are getting rid of a lot of karma too, and they're actually here to teach others instead of like learning themselves, like their karma is to teach their family and their friends and stuff like that. But like there's in the spirit world, there's a line waiting out the freaking door to come in as a body like that because you're so special, right? Here to teach, and you're getting rid of a lot of karma too.
SPEAKER_00Shannon, let me let me since I don't I'm gonna try to upgrade while we're talking, but um, let me ask you something. You said it something fascinating to me. It never felt safe to feel emotions. Yeah, that's powerful. Yeah, you know, like what finally made you realize you know, numbness wasn't protecting you anymore.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, until recently, about a year and a half ago. And it's okay, it's never too late to learn, but through this work of somatic energy healing with Dr. John Amarall, who I'm learning from, um, I was in dorsal vagal shutdown, which means your nervous system was so overwhelmed and you're so shut down that your body becomes numb. Or if I had emotion, I would go hide and like go cry in my room or something, or I didn't have a safe space to like be a kid or have emotions. So I grew up like that too, just suppressing all my emotions, thinking like people, but people loved it because they're like, you're so agreeable. You just do whatever I want you to do. And I was just like, I thought that's just what you did because people liked it. And I was never a bother. Like I never wanted to be a bother, and I just learned to eat all my emotions. So in my body, it was just pretty much numb. Like I have a really high tolerance for pain. That's actually not a good thing. It means you're suppressing stuff so bad, like your body's numb and it doesn't feel pain. Of course, I feel pain, but it's just like I do have a really high tolerance. It's probably changed now because I've worked on so much trauma. But um, yeah, your body keeps the score and the body will tell you what's going on in your nervous system. And yeah, so now I'm learning to it's it's I'm teaching my body now it's safe to be incarnated. And I'm teaching my nervous system, it doesn't always have to be on hypervigilant, hypervigilance, because even if I hear uh a loud noise, I'm like, like people are like, what's wrong? Like, it's just my nervous system was on level 10 because that's all it has known its whole life. So I'm teaching, I had to do stuff to constantly teach my nervous system to say it's safe, it's safe to be seen in a room, and it's safe to be know me. So it took a long time, but through these teachings, it allowed me to learn what's going on in my body and and know thyself. It's just like now I know why I do it. Now I know the past stuff, why my body reacted that way and why it's no longer good to be in that state. It was survival, and I'm thankful for it, but I'm like, body, now we don't need to be in that survival state anymore. So I'm learning to slowly peel back those layers of trauma. But yeah.
SPEAKER_00So I understand, you know, emotional shutdown, you know, because for years it helped me stay alive and keep me alive. And I still feel I go back and forth a little bit. I say, okay, I'm gonna be vulnerable, and you know, and sometimes, you know, something hurts me, and I'm like, I'm gonna go back to, you know, just not giving a shit anymore.
SPEAKER_01Right.
SPEAKER_00But eventually it became the thing keeping me from living, you know. So I totally understand. And yeah, let's can you break down Reiki for us a little bit?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, so Reiki.
SPEAKER_00I want to get into that.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, so Reiki is an ancient Japanese form of energy healing. So it's the same thing. Yuzu went to the mountains and meditated and then was downloaded with this information on science symbols that you draw and drawing in energy from universal love and light and healing through your hands. And so after he went on this month, or I don't know how many months he was in the mountains, came back with this and taught this. And so you you get a tune for it. And so they teach you all about Reiki, and then they open up the channels within you. And it's just like, wow, like your hands, like my hands will vibrate, they'll get hot. Um the other people usually feel it. Some people who are not semantically aware, they'll won't, they're like, I don't feel anything. Then like, wow. And other people are like, oh my God, you put electric shocks through my body, or I feel vibrating, or feel warmth. Like it feels like when I'm hovering, I'm not even touching you. It feels like you opened up the the oven door, and it's just like this heat that comes from your hands.
SPEAKER_00And I did it.
SPEAKER_02Look at you. Wow, that's amazing. Uh good job.
SPEAKER_00Thank you, thank you.
SPEAKER_02So at a Reiki session, they lay there, and some parts of the body I will put hands on, other parts I'm gonna hover. And so Reiki is smart, it knows where to go. And so that's that's one modality that I really enjoy because you don't have to think about anything. You just are a clear channel and you draw symbols over their body, and you I can feel the energy just like come within my body and go in my hands, and you start at your head and you go to their feet and you make your way up. And people have the experience of feeling in the heat. And also, like I had one client and he said, Wow, I just had this memory of when I was in kindergarten and it came up. I haven't thought of it since probably kindergarten, but I was able to process it at my 45-year-old brain. And he was like, That was amazing. And so memories will come up, breed you process. You will sleep really well that night. So I had this other client I used to volunteer for hospice, I'm a death doula, and she had in-staged Parkinson's. And so she told the chaplain the next day, she was like, Oh my God, when that girl did the energy healing on me, I had the best sleep of my entire life. And I was like, Oh, so it just helps you sleep, it helps you have a like a sense of well-being and peace, and just brings up stuff for you gently for you to process. And then your chakra system. So there's seven major chakras starting from your root chakra at the base of your tailbone, and then they all go up until you hit your crown chakra at the top of your head. And so there's an ancient shamanic practice that I do called backwashing. So I will they spin clockwise and they're all do different things and they're all different colors. That's a whole different conversation, but I will spin them counterclockwise and I'll literally see in my mind's eye and scoop out the gunk that's in your chakras until I get no more. And then I'll bring in the light of the central sun, which the shamans say that's like the most powerful healing, cleansing energy that you can use. And then I'll spin it clockwise. And so I'll clean out all of your chakras and reset your system in the energy healing. And sometimes I'll do sound healing in a session as well, because sound and vibration is huge for healing.
SPEAKER_00I have to, I have to book you. You see, you just this just sound like heaven.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, you just have to lay there and receive.
SPEAKER_00I mean, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_02It it's really it's really a beautiful modality. So I really love Reiki. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00You ever thought it was wishful thinking when you first started, or just, you know, what convinced you it wasn't just relaxation?
SPEAKER_02I know, right? Because you can have the placebo effect of like, oh, I'm in the session, it's working. I mean, but that's nothing wrong with placebo, also, but because I felt it. I when she put her hands on me to attune me, I was like, oh my God, the tingling in my head. I was like, it was the best feeling I've ever felt. I was like, whoa, I felt that. And so, and then I started to see like things unfold in my life. And so you it's like sometimes it's subtle. We're like, I reacted differently to that situation, which before I didn't, I did it that way. So you'll start to see things unfold, and I felt it. So I was a believer, and then I heard other people's experience with Reiki. I'm like, oh, there's something to this. And so I can see how people can be like, oh, that's just they're putting their hands on you.
SPEAKER_00Right, right, right.
SPEAKER_02They just have this belief, but they're studying it now. So they have this documentary that's coming out. I don't think it's ready yet, but they're studying energy healer, so energy healing. So they didn't say what modality, they just said energy healer, and they did this study. So they had a petri dish full of cancer cells. So it wasn't a person, there's no placebo effect. It was just petri dish, cells, cancer cells. And then they had people who were not energy healers. Oh, and they had like an animal, like a mouse. So petri dish cells, mouse. They had three energy healers and then three people who are not energy healers. So they did energy healing on the cancer cells and the mice. What they found was the non-energy healers, like nothing happened, nothing changed, but the three energy healers all had an effect on both the animal and the cells. So that the cancer cells in the petri dish changed the molecular structure of the cell and started to become non-cancerous cells. Yes. And then the mouse, the same thing. And so they're like, Because cells, you can't lie, you can't say, oh, it, you know, wishful thinking. There's no denying that. And then an animal can't deny. And so they're starting to actually study it now. And there's still like, okay, because people are. They're putting like in scripts, the hospital in San Diego, they have healing touch there, which is another hospital.
SPEAKER_00Scripts, so really at all the scripts uh location. I'm in San Diego.
SPEAKER_02You know, you are so I don't know if all of them, but I have a friend who she's a nurse, and so they started those division at scripts for healing touch. And so she is kind of phasing out of being a nurse because she just had a baby, and start she's doing the uh energy healing. So on patients, they'll do healing touch and they have they recover quicker, they have less pain, they're out of the hospital quicker. And so hospitals are actually recognizing energy healing is not woo-woo anymore. And it's like for hippies, it's actually studied now and actually put in hospitals. You hear of Europe too. They have like these neonatal units for babies who were born too early and have all these problems. They go around with sound healing for the babies, and it's just like, why don't okay? So America's a little late to the game, but at least they're they're starting to study it.
SPEAKER_00Right, right. Yeah, we take our sweet time with everything.
SPEAKER_02Yes.
SPEAKER_00Everything gotta be verified and and like research thoroughly.
SPEAKER_02If there's no money in it, why do it?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, right, exactly. Yeah, and uh, I read I was uh when I seen the Reiki on your bio, I was thinking, you know, let me research this thing. And I uh a lot of people, millions actually, of people think Reiki is pseudoscience. Yeah, you know, when you said the placebo and and things. So I'm glad you broke that down and explained that to us.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, they're starting to be it now, which is good.
SPEAKER_00Right, we need that. Yeah, and I don't think you know, skepticism is disrespect.
SPEAKER_02I think No, we need it. We need a question. I mean, we question things all the time, and it doesn't mean it's wrong or it's bad, it just means like you have questions and you kind of want to know like what's the effect right as and and to study it. It's just we're we're humans and we want to know the why. Why, why, why, why right?
SPEAKER_00And I I have man, uh I it's another question that I would I was dying to ask you about bioenergy. Yeah, and your website uses the phrase energetic surgery. You have to break that down to me. You know, that's strong language, it is strong language.
SPEAKER_02So so pure bioenergy is working within your biofield as well, and so it's working within your field and then on your body. So it's it's during there's different protocols. And so in the book that they give you after training, you flip through and whatever the person, the ailment that they have, there's a certain protocol to put your hands in different spots, and then you either take energy out of their field or you add energy because there's dissonance in the field. There's either too much or too little. And so I go within your pain. So, okay, I'll give you an example of a client. She fell off the curb walking her dog and busted her shoulder, and she's an avid golfer. And she was like, Oh my gosh, like I can't even fuck, you know, do my bra on the back. I like my I know they say I'm not gonna golf ever again. Like, I'm my shoulder's always gonna be messed up. And I'm like, let me do some pure bioenergy on you. And so one session is doing four times. So I have to see you four days in a row because it's you can't just blast somebody with all this energy. It has to be an increment. So it's four days. And so I come to see her every day, and so I work on her shoulder. And so I, okay, if your pain is from zero, meaning no pain, to 10, which is like you can't even breathe, where is it? And she would tell me, like, you know, five or six. And so I'll go off of that pain threshold. And we always go with adding energy first. So I'll add energy and then okay, does it feel the same or does it feel worse or better? And so if it feels worse, I'm like, okay, so we need to take out now. But if it feels the same or better, adding energy is good. So that's my like barometer of where I need to go. And so I worked on her four days in a row, and animals love it. Her little dog just laid like on her lap the whole time. It was like the animals love energy healing because they, if you're in the room, you're getting energy healing as well. So I worked on her shoulder and she was like, wow, she's like, I felt like energy leave my shoulder. She was like, it was the weirdest feeling in my shoulders.
SPEAKER_00It's amazing.
SPEAKER_02No, and then that night she was like, it kind of felt tinges and twink. Like, is that normal? I'm it's normal. It's energy just moving. And so after the four sessions, that's all she needed. She was like, Shannon, I can't even freaking believe it. Like, I'm golfing now. And I'm like, No, no meta, no, no uh pills or she was told she wasn't gonna ever golf, and like surgery didn't nothing help, and she couldn't even strap her bra on. And she was like, I'm golfing now. I'm like, I knew it, but it's just like and she was very skeptical. She was like, She didn't even want to do the sessions, and I was like, just try it, just try it. And she was just annoyed I had to come for four days because she's the football games were on and blah blah blah. I'm like, dude, yeah, yeah. And then now it's like her life has changed, and I'm like, this is real because we're all made of energy. Nicola Tesla says the universe is made up of energy, vibration, and tone, tone, vibration, energy. And so we're all energy, we're just condensed into this very condensed matter. But our energy field, it's called the Taurus, it goes through your central channel, it goes out the bottom, comes back up, and then it's always taking in energy and it's always emitting energy. And so it's grabbing energy from everybody else's field, the universe, and giving info. And so if there's dissonance in your field, you're going to attract people in situations for the situation to be. And so if you keep attracting the same pattern, the same situation with the same type of people, it's just a different face, but it's the same type of personality. You have to look at yourself and be like, why am I attracting this? What is in my field that's having me attract the same type of relationship, the same narcissist that you know you keep getting a relationship with, or like the same situation with your mother-in-law, whatever. You're just like, okay, that's when you take a step back and you're like, what's in my field that keeps attracting this? And you have to look at yourself and be aware of like what's caught in your body somatically that's having you repeat this pattern. So you wouldn't have to yourself.
SPEAKER_00So where's your where's your ethical line? Like, at what point do you tell someone, I can't help you? You know, you need a physician.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, yeah. So they did teach us that some people. So I just want to touch on like some people don't want to be healed. They'll say, Oh my gosh, I'm at, you know, I have this illness and I want to be healed. But deep down, it's part of the identity and their identity. It's like, who would they be without their illness? Like, like there was this lady who had MS, and she, this was an issue that my teacher told me she had MS and she was in a wheelchair and she came to the healing sessions and she visibly looked better, like her hands were less of a claw and she was happy. And then she was like, No, it did nothing for me. It didn't, you know, it didn't do anything. And then she they watched her get picked up by her sons and like babied, and they were like, you know, some people like she wouldn't have this special attention from her adult sons if she wasn't like having this illness. So we have to let go of the fact that people don't want to be healed. You know,
